Where did Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP come from?
NLP was born out of the quest to discover a way to model the most effective people. Researchers from Santa Cruz University California wanted to explore how the strategies of the most effective people rendered consistent results. They wanted to find out how those who were highly effective with their communication did it. They wanted to see whether they could recognize patterns or commonalities in the way effective people interpreted and responded to the world. What they discovered was that success leaves clues, and NLP is the resultant blueprint for success. These insights cannot be learned from a book, and you will never just trip over them yourself – they must be experienced.
NLP and the Understanding of You
From an NLP standpoint, we are far more resourceful than we think we are. We are capable of much more than we currently achieve, and it is only our conditioning that limits us. NLP shows you how you get the results you get, and how to improve those outcomes. If you don’t know how to run your own mind, it will run you.
Professional Applications of NLP
The professional applications of NLP are immediate and obvious, and elements of NLP have been borrowed by corporate trainers pretty consistently over the past decade. Unfortunately, elements aren’t enough to get a workable understanding of the process. Everyone thinks they are decent communicators, but NLP skills take this to another level. NLP teaches you to be able to read and predict behaviour. To more accurately assess how a message will land. This means you are more able to influence, manage meetings, productivity and team dynamics, as well as your own personal effectiveness. Personal Applications of NLP
The personal applications of NLP revolve around self-management. We are all products of our conditioning. How we view the world has been learned. We don’t see the world as it is. We run all inputs through filters. Two obvious ones would be optimism and pessimism. Both are habituated interpretations of the world. Neither is an accurate appraisal of what is happening because both optimists and pessimists are constantly projecting into the future. The difference is that one projects positivity, and the other negativity. Neither is accurate.
.B. Most people don’t think they are pessimists. They think they are realists. However, if you worry or struggle with stress or anxiety at all, you are leaning towards pessimisim.
But, all successful people share an optimism. All charismatic people exude optimism. All great leaders have learnt on the side of optimism. Optimists generally live longer, are wealthier and healthier than pessimists. NLP rapid change techniques (7 second NLP Mindhacks) facilitate the change from a pessimist to optimist, allowing you to live a life free of anxiety and excessive worry or irritation.
What does Neuro Linguistic bring out in a human being?
NLP shows you that you are in control of much more than you think you are and shows you how. Have a challenging critical voice? There is a technique for that. Struggling with stress or overwhelm? There is a technique for that. Struggling with difficult people? NLP has a technique for that. Good NLP training has an answer to just about every issue you are likely to have in this lifetime. Yes, it is that good – if it is learnt well.
