Formerly known as the Australian Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy (AICH), the Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) trains people in the most advanced forms of modern hypnosis available today.
Who are we and why does it matter?
IAP is one of the largest hypnotherapy training providers in Australia, and was created in response to the concerns that some associations had about the quality of hypnotherapy graduates entering the field. Our main focus is to produce high calibre, effective hypnotherapists.
Course Recognition
IAP offers courses in Modern Clinical Hypnotherapy and leading-edge Strategic Psychotherapy. Our courses are recognised by the Australian Government and are industry endorsed by the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association, and the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia, the peak body in the field.

The Australian Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy Faculty
The Australian Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy faculty is comprised of some of the world’s leading hypnotherapy educators. As globally-recognised leaders in the profession, they are at the heart of shaping the hypnotherapy landscape, and have been part of the process of working with government regulators and the health insurance industry, and been instrumental in the movement towards elevating standards in the profession.
Who is your lead trainer?
Our lead trainer is Gordon Young (B.A. Dip. Ed, B.A. (Hons), Dip. C.H., Dip. C.S., NLP Master and Trainer), a graduate of the prestigious Milton Erickson Foundation in Arizona. Gordon is also the former President of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, and the former editor of the Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy (a peer-reviewed journal). Now, tightening his focus on the Institute and his own clinical practice, Gordon continues to be a respected, nationally recognised figure in the profession.

The Australian Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy faculty has links with many of the world’s foremost authorities on hypnotherapy.
In 2010 Michael Yapko taught a two-day workshop for the Institute with great results and an outstanding attendance.
In 2011 and 2012 our guest lecturer was Bill O’Hanlon from the USA, one of the world’s most well known and respected therapists, creator of Solution-Oriented Therapy, author of 36 books and one of Oprah’s most celebrated guest therapists. When you enrol early you will be able to get online access to a two Day Training on Modern Solution-Oriented Hypnosis lead by Bill O’Hanlon as a special bonus.
In February 2019 Michael Yapko will return for a 4 Day Advanced Workshop and in February 2020, Stephen Gilligan, one of Milton Erickson’s most celebrated students will be in Sydney to deliver his unique training on the Hero’s Journey, and Generative Change.
