Q1. What formats and devices do you recommend for recording the role play?
- Formats: For videos, please use the following formats- MP4 (.mp4), Windows Media Video (.wmv), Quicktime Video (.mov, qt), or Apple Video (.m4v)
- Video lengths are stated in the assessment instructions. Please stay within the guidelines. We recognise that it is often hard to be exact, and a variance of 7 minutes either way should be ample “wiggle ”
Q2. How long does the Role Play need to be?
Subject 1-U2B-DCHHYP502 Prepare for clinical hypnosis session Role Play – No more than 30 minutes. Subject 1-U3B-DCHHYP503A Provide clinical hypnosis session Role Play – No more than 30 minutes
Subject 1-U4B-DCHHYP504 Monitor and evaluate clinical hypnosis interventions Role Play – No more than 15 minutes.
Subject 4-U3-DCHHYP506 Apply strategic psychotherapy techniques to clinical hypnosis
The interview should be a maximum of 30 minutes, and 30 minutes for the hypnosis = 60 minutes in total. The follow up session is to be a maximum of 15 minutes.
Q3. Who can I ask to be my client in the Role Play?
You can ask another student in your class, or a friend or family member.
Q4. Do I need to Transcribe every role play session?
A. Yes, each session needs to be transcribed and comments should give us a glimpse into the reason why you said what you did. This is to demonstrate your understanding of Strategic Psychotherapy. Please look at the assessment to see an example of a transcribed session.
Q5. How do I transcribe my sessions?
A. You can play your recording and stop intermittently and type what was said. Or else you can outsource it to an online virtual assistant. There are several online services that do this, such as fiverr.com. The units have helpful resources you can use such as free transcription services like Otter.com
Q6. In the assessment U3 DCHHYP506A Strategic Role Play, it says to do the interview then the hypnosis session. Then it says to do the follow up session and says not to do another hypnosis recording, is that correct?
A. Yes, You just record the follow up interview.

Q12. Do I need to use a consent form?
You are welcome to create one. There is also a tick box within the generic Intake Form that asks consent from your client to have Hypnotherapy and this would suffice.
